The Chinese Ambassador Conveys Congratulations to the Philippines' 15th President: Benigno "Noynoy" Aquino III

In the afternoon of 9 June 2010, the Philippine Congress formally proclaimed Sen. Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III and Makati Mayor Jejomar Binay winners of the May 10 presidential and vice-presidential elections.

On the same day, H.E. Liu Jianchao, Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to the Republic of the Philippines, said, “I would like to, on behalf of the Chinese Government and people, convey my sincere congratulations to President-elect Aquino and Vice President-elect Binay. China looks forward to seeing the Philippines continue to enjoy social stability and economic prosperity, and the Philippine people blessed with sustaining happiness under the leadership. ”

“The proclamation falls on the exact date when our two countries established diplomatic relations 35 years ago. Today represents a historic moment ushering in a new era for China-Philippine relations. The Chinese Government stands ready to work with the new Philippine leadership to promote China-Philippines strategic and cooperative relations to a new high, and carry forward China-Philippines friendship with strength and depth.” Ambassador Liu said.
