Tang made the remarks when meeting with Antonio Villaraigosa, mayor of Los Angeles. Tang said China-U.S. relations have been developing well, and the two countries have kept close exchanges between state leaders and officials of other levels.
Chinese President Hu Jintao paid a successful visit to the United States in April and he met with U.S. President George W. Bush once again in July in Russia's St. Petersburg.
"That has effectively promoted China-U.S. constructive cooperative ties," he said.
"We are willing to join hands with the United States to fulfill the consensus reached by the two state leaders, enhance bilateral exchanges and cooperation, address each other's concerns and properly settle disputes," the state councilor said.
Tang hopes that Los Angeles could make new achievements in its cooperation with China.
Villaraigosa said China plays "very an important" role in his city's future development. Los Angeles is to actively promote its cooperation with China in the fields such as trade, investment, environmental protection and tourism, he said.
Villaraigosa arrived in the Chinese capital early Sunday to start his China trip.
