The Chinese Embassy in the Philippines has been closely following the tragic death of a handcuffed Chinese citizen in Las Pinas, who lost his life when escaping from a sixth-floor window of a building.

The Chinese Embassy welcomes Philippine Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panelo's statement on this matter, in which he said that the Palace had asked the Philippine National Police to investigate into the incident, and that the Philippines "will not allow nor tolerate any kind of abuse inflicted on any foreigner". The Chinese Embassy highly appreciate the Palace's call to put a stop to these illegal acts, as well as the commitment to protecting the safety of Chinese citizens in the Philippines.

The Chinese Embassy urges relevant departments of the Philippine Government to bring the perpetrators to justice through an objective, fair and thorough investigation, and continue to take concrete and effective measures to protect the legitimate rights and interests of Chinese citizens in the Philippines.
