Chinese and Philippine officials discuss their cooperation On Fishery and Agriculture in Manila

From March 30 to April 2, 2005, a Chinese delegation headed by Fan Xiaojian, Vice Minister of Agriculture, and the Philippine Government delegation held their first meeting of China-Philippine Joint Committee on Fishery and third meeting of China-Philippine Joint Committee on Agriculture in Manila. Ambassador Wu Hongbo and Philippine Agriculture Secretary Arthur C. Yap witnessed the signing of the minutes of the two meetings on April 1, 2005.

The meeting of China-Philippine Joint Committee on Fishery is first such meeting held after the signing of Memorandum of Understanding on Fisheries Cooperation between the two ministries in Beijing on September 1, 2004. Both sides had in-depth discussion on fishing, sea water aquiculture, aquatic product processing and reached a broad consensus on future cooperation in those fields.

The third meeting of China-Philippine Joint Committee on Agriculture reviewed their successful cooperation in such fields as hybrid rice, hybrid corn, agricultural machinery and agricultural infrastructure construction and identified the priority items for cooperation in the coming two years.
