The Chinese Embassy Donated 150 sets of High-Flow Humidifier to the Philippines

On 21 October 2020, Chinese Ambassador Huang Xilian turned over to Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea 150 sets of high-flow humidifier donated by the Chinese Embassy to the Philippines in Malacañang Palace. The high-flow humidifier is a kind of breathing aid device, which is in great demand to support the severely infected COVID-19 patients.

Ambassador Huang said the 150 sets of high-flow humidifier is a new batch of medical supplies donated by the Chinese side to help the Philippines in its fight against the COVID-19 pandemic. In the face of the challenge of COVID-19, China and the Philippines have worked together and lent assistance to each other, attesting the traditional friendship and added new dimensions to the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries. Under the strong leadership of the Communist Party of China, China has made major achievements in the fight against the epidemic and its economic recovery. The recent economic statistics have shown that China's GDP grew by 4.9% in the third quarter compared with the same period last year, making it an important growth engine in the world. He reiterated China’s solidarity and continuous support to the Philippine people in their fight against the pandemic until the final victory.

Executive Secretary Medialdea appreciated China’s continuous support in helping the Philippines overcome the pandemic, and articulated that the Philippines stands ready to continue close cooperation with China for an early victory over the pandemic, and economic recovery.

The 150 sets of high-flow humidifier is the latest batch of medical equipment donated by the Chinese Embassy to the Philippines. China reached out to donate ventilators to the Philippines as early as last April when the ventilator supply was very tight in the world market. As of August 2020, a total of 130 ventilators has been donated by China to the Philippines.

China has continuously provided well-needed medical supplies to the Philippines through multi-channels. Up to now, the Chinese government has donated to the Philippine government more than 250,000 test kits, 1,870,000 surgical masks, personal protective equipment etc. A large number of Chinese local governments, enterprises and civil groups also donated millions sets of PPEs and other medical supplies to different local governments, and hospitals of the Philippines. The Chinese Embassy and Consulates have also donated over 40,000 “Friendship Bags” containing food and daily necessities to Filipino families in need across the country to help them get through the current difficult time.
