Ambassador Huang Xilian pays a courtesy call on the Secretary of Foreign Affairs of the Philippines


On 3 December 2019, H.E. Huang Xilian, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary-designate of the People's Republic of China to the Republic of the Philippines, paid a courtesy call on Hon. Teodoro L. Locsin Jr., Secretary of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of the Philippines, and presented the copy of Letter of Credence to the latter .

Ambassador Huang first conveyed the warm regards and best wishes from State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi to Secretary Locsin, and said that he was honored to be able to present the copy of letter of Credence on the first day of his arrival in Manila. Ambassador Huang highlighted that under the strategic guidance of H.E. President Xi Jinping and H.E. President Duterte, China-Philippines relations have continued to develop in depth, ushering in a fresh Golden Era for the two countries. Ambassador Huang said he felt privileged to serve as the Chinese Ambassador to the Philippines at such an important historical juncture, and would make every effort to promote China-Philippines friendship and cooperation, living up to the significant mission entrusted upon him. He stood ready to work with Secretary Locsin and the Philippine side to implement the important consensus of the two presidents to achieve continuous progress in bilateral relations and bring more benefits to the two peoples.

Secretary Locsin warmly welcomed Ambassador Huang Xilian on his arrival in the Philippines. He asked Ambassador Huang to convey his sincere greetings to  State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi. Secretary Locsin said the Philippines and China have enjoyed time-honored friendship. He recalled his interaction with China dating back to decades ago, when he paid a visit to China in 1967 and had the privilege to call on the then Chinese Foreign Minister Chen Yi. He pointed out that in recent years, the Philippines-China relationship has developed in a steady pace and the two countries have continuously advanced their cooperation in various areas, which has brought benefits to two peoples. The Secretary reaffirmed that the Department of Foreign Affairs and himself would maintain close cooperation with Ambassador Huang and the Chinese Embassy in the Philippines to consolidate the Philippines-China friendship and enhance mutual beneficial cooperation.  

Ambassador Huang arrived in Manila on the early morning of 3 December 2019. Present at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport to welcome Amb. Huang were protocol officials from the Department of Foreign Affairs of the Philippines, officials from the Chinese Embassy in the Philippines and representatives from Chinese communities in the Philippines.
