The Chinese Embassy donates IT Equipment to the Philippine Official Media Agencies

On 13 February 2019, the Chinese Embassy donated IT equipment to the Philippine Broadcasting Service (PBS) and Philippine News Agency (PNA)  during a handover ceremony held at the Government Media Center Building, Quezon City. The handover ceremony was graced by Ambassador Zhao Jianhua, Presidential Communications Secretary Martin Andanar, PBS Director Rizal Giovanni Aportadera Jr. and PNA Executive Editor Luis Morente.

In his remarks, Ambassador Zhao said, "Under the guidance of President Xi Jinping and President Rodrigo Duterte, the development of bilateral relationship has been very successful. China-Philippines relations have been elevated to Comprehensive Strategic Cooperation, which is not only beneficial to our two countries but also to our two peoples. "

Ambassador Zhao also expressed his willingness to help improve the facilities of the PCOO as a symbol of his appreciation for the department. "Communication has been playing a very important role in cementing the friendship.The PCOO, led by Secretary Andanar, has been doing a very good job in promoting bilateral relationship and cooperation particularly in getting our friendly messages across not only in the Philippines but also across the Chinese people," Zhao added.

For the Philippine side, PCOO Secretary Martin Andanar extended his gratitude for the donation and expressed his hopes of fostering deeper China-Philippine relations.

"Our relationship with China has been raised to the highest possibilities of cooperation particularly in the field of technologically advanced communication facilities. A new horizon of understanding is now open for our two countries to strengthen the universal values that we have traditionally held sacred. The direct people-to-people discourse through the facilities of media is one of the most vital instruments for world peace and progress," said Andanar.

The donation of IT equipment includes smartphones, computers, teleprompters, and video cameras among others.
