Inauguration and Turn-Over Ceremony of Grant-Aid Dangerous Drugs Abuse Treatment and Rehabilitation Center in Sarangani

On 17 December 2018, the inauguration and turn-over ceremony of the Grant-Aid Dangerous Drugs Abuse Treatment and Rehabilitation Center in Brgy. Kawas, Alabael, Province of Sarangani was held in cooperation by the Chinese Embassy in the Philippines and the Philippine Department of Health (DOH).

                                                        

The ceremony was graced by Chinese Commercial Counsellor Jin Yuan, Chinese Consul General to Davao Li Lin, DOH Secretary Francisco Duque, DOH Assistant Secretary Abdullah B. Dumama, and Sarangani Province Governor Steve Chiongbian Solon.

 

Reaffirming the Chinese government's commitment to the Philippines, Counsellor Jin Yuan imparted his message of positiveness and hope for the completion of the new center.

                                                        

"The completion of this cozy center fully demonstrates that the Chinese government will never let you down, the Chinese people will always stand by your side... and China will help within our capacity to boost the development of the Philippines. China is and will always be a good neighbor, sincere friend and close partner of the Philippines. With our enhanced cooperation, a brighter future, and prosperity will be shared by our two countries," said Jin.

 

The Counsellor also highlighted new and relevant assistance that China would provide to the Philippines in the upcoming years.

 

"Chinese President Xi Jinping had a very successful state visit to the Philippines… China firmly supports President Duterte's efforts in improving people's well-being, and China will provide the greatest help within our capacity. President Xi has announced during the visit that China would provide another 500 million RMB grant to the Philippine government, help build with grant Davao River bridge in Davao City, and donate 10,000 tons of rice to the Philippine people in typhoon-affected areas," Jin said.

 

"I wish all our cooperation projects great successes and look forward to an early completion of another Drugs Abuse Treatment Center in Agusan," Jin added.

 

Secretary Duque reached out to the Chinese envoy and through his speech, expressed his gratitude and hopes to boost the cooperation of China and the Philippines in the future. "I send my gratitude to the Chinese government for the assistance and support to this administration's campaign against illegal drugs and we look forward to more partnerships in health-related projects which in a broader scale will further strengthen the relations between China and the Philippines. And we also look forward to working with our other partners in implementing the various programs to end the scourge of illegal drugs in the Philippines under the most dynamic and able leadership of President Rodrigo Roa Duterte." Duque said.

                                                        

The Great-Aid Dangerous Drugs Abuse Treatment and Rehabilitation Center in Sarangani is the first completed China financed infrastructure project in the Philippines. The Center has amenities such as male and female chapels, a badminton and a basketball court, and a coffee and dining area, and gives off an ambiance of a cozy resort on top of the mountain with a sea view.
