The Chinese Embassy Open for the Students from Ateneo De Davao University

On August 3, 2018, The Chinese Embassy held "Open Day" for more than thirty students from Ateneo De Davao University.

Counsellor Sun Yi considered the event an avenue for a better China-Philippine understanding.

During his opening remarks, Counsellor Sun said that it was a great pleasure welcomeing guests from afar, hoping that the event would be an initial step for the students to better understand China.

On the other hand, Ateneo De Davao University Professor Ramon Beleno thanked the Embassy for their hospitality and hoped to return the favor by inviting the Embassy to visit Davao in the near future.

Four presenters from the Chinese embassy discussed a wide array of topics including China's foreign policy, China-Philippine bilateral relations, economic cooperation, and people-to-people exchanges.

The seminar also opened the guests to ask questions to further enlighten them on issues discussed.

"This event is a safe space that provides common points of understanding and provides information that bridges the gaps for a better understanding of the two countries. This is an important platform to pursue ideas and further knowledge," a student for Ateneo De Davao University said.

"The pillars of foreign policy is built upon the continuous, consistent, and substantial interaction of our citizens. Interactions, no matter how small, become a greater web of relationship in our countries that make a more harmonious relationship and helps in fortifying better and more beneficial relations," he added.

The students were also treated to a Chinese banquet after the Seminar to cap off the night's event.
