Chinese Embassy Hosts Celebration on the 68th Anniversary of the Founding of the People's Republic of China
The Chinese Embassy hosted a reception in celebration of the 68th Anniversary of the Founding of the People's Republic of China on 26 September 2017 at the Rizal Ballroom of the Makati Shangri-La hotel.



Giving his keynote address, Chinese Ambassador to the Philippines Zhao Jianhua emphasized the great developments of China-Philippines relations.

"Since President Duterte's successful visit last October, China-Philippines relations has entered into a new era. In a short span of less than one year, our bilateral cooperation in various fields has yielded rich outcomes." Ambassador Zhao said.


Ambassador Zhao also highlighted eight areas that have greatly developed within the past year including increasing high-level exchanges, comprehensive revival and new establishments of bilateral mechanisms, gratifying scores in trade and investment, China's strong commitment to the Philippines' infrastructure development, substantive progress in China-Philippines anti-narcotics cooperation, helping hands to each other in hard times, local governments' and people-to-people exchanges, and China's earnest support to the Philippines' chairmanship of ASEAN.


"Thanks to the vision and wisdom of our leaders and concerted efforts of our two sides, we have achieved so much in just one year for China-Philippines relations," said Ambassador Zhao.

"Let us cherish this 'Golden Era' of China-Philippines relations and seize golden opportunities to strive for more splendid years for China and the Philippines, a great friendship and a strong partnership, which will be thriving, rewarding, and enduring," he added.

Representative of President Rodrigo Duterte, Acting Secretary of the Department of Foreign Affairs Linglingay Lacanlale gave her well wishes for a more prosperous relationship between both countries.

"To lasting friendship and cooperation between the Philippines and China. To the good health and success of our excellencies Chinese President Xi Jinping, Chinese Foreign Minister Li Keqiang and Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte and the continued well-being and prosperity for both our peoples," she said.

Among the dignitaries during the reception were Senate President Aquilino "Koko" Pimentel III, Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives Pia Cayetano, DOLE Secretary Silvestre Bello III, Presidential Legal Adviser Salvador Panelo,  Defense Undersecretary Cardozo Luna, Commissioner of Bureau of Customs Isidro Lapeña and AFP Major General Job Yucoco and members of the diplomatic corps.


Guests enjoyed the reception as they were indulged with an exhibition of Chinese arts, a buffet banquet, and an audiovisual presentation celebrating the developments of China throughout the years.
