Chinese Embassy Celebrates the 20th Anniversary of Hong Kong's Return to China

On the 29th of June, the Embassy of the People's Republic of China hosted a reception in commemoration of the 20th Anniversary of Hong Kong's return to China at the Grand Ballroom of Fairmont Hotel Makati. 

                                                               

                                                                

Giving his keynote address, Chinese Ambassador H.E. Zhao Jianhua highlighted the huge success of China's "One Country, Two Systems" policy,under which Hong Kong has maintained continued stability and prosperity over the past 20 years and become a window to demonstrate China's historic development to the world.

"Ever since H.E. President Duterte took office, China-Philippines relations have entered in a new era of comprehensive development. HKSAR will be in a better position to enhance its cooperation with the Philippines and contribute even more to the overall development of the relations between China and the Philippines," Zhao said.

"Looking into the future, we are quite confident that under the 'One Country, Two Systems', and with consistent and firm support from the Central Government, Hong Kong will further develop its unique advantages, and will enjoy more sustainable and greater prosperity," the Ambassador added

Director-General of the Hong Kong Economic & Trade Affairs office in Jakarta Madame Do Pang Wai-yee also delivered her remarks highlighting the development of Hong Kong and the establishment of stronger relationships with the ASEAN. 

Director-General Do also said that Hong Kong will continue to support the Belt and Road Initiative and seize the opportunities from the Central Government's development strategy to achieve further socio-economic progress.

Notable dignitaries during the event included DFA Usec. Enrique Manalo, chairperson of the Presidential Commission for the Urban Poor Hon. Terry Ridon, Major-General Herminigildo Aquino of the AFP Command and Genera Staff College, representatives of Hong Kong from the Thailand and Indonesia offices, leaders of Filipino-Chinese Associations, and members of the Diplomatic Corps.

                                                              

The attendees of the event were treated to a string quarter and various Hong Kong delicacies to celebrate the enjoyable evening.
