Ambassador Liu recognized the important role of legal exchange and cooperation in promoting China-Philippine cooperation in areas like bilateral trade and commerce. He was pleased to note that the Supreme Courts of the two countries signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on judicial cooperation last year, and believed that the MOU will boost bilateral cooperation in relevant fields.

Chief Justice Puno expressed the commitment of the Philippines to the full implementation of the MOU. He said that the deepening Philippine-China cooperation in areas like bilateral trade calls for better understanding of each other's legal systems. In that connection, he hoped that China could send legal experts visiting the Philippines to give lectures and conduct seminars on China's legal system.
