At the invitation of Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi, Foreign Minister Ali Ahmed Karti of the Republic of the Sudan will visit China from February 26 to 28.

At the invitation of Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi, Foreign Minister María Ángela Holguín of the Republic of Colombia will visit China from February 28 to 29.

Q: What is China's comment on the third DPRK-US high-level dialogue?

A: China pays high attention to the third DPRK-US high-level dialogue in Beijing. We hope that relevant dialogue will yield positive outcome so as to create conditions for the resumption of the Six-Party Talks.

Q: First, please brief us on the meeting between the Chinese Government's Special Representative for Korean Peninsula Affairs Wu Dawei and US Special Representative for North Korea Policy Davies. Second, the "Friends of Syria" Meeting is being held today in Tunis. What is China's comment on that? What is China's attitude on some countries' proposal of providing humanitarian assistance to Syria?

A: First, China is in close communication with both the DPRK and the US. We will release information on the meeting in due course.

On your second question, China, as the Syrian and Arab people's friend, has long been supporting the just cause of the Arab people. China supports all efforts helpful to resolving the Syrian issue peacefully and appropriately, and would like to play an active and constructive role together with all parties concerned. China also believes that the international community's action on the Syrian issue should be conducive to alleviating tensions, promoting political dialogue, dissolving disputes and upholding peace and stability in the Middle East region. China still needs to further look into the purpose, role and mechanism of the "Friends of Syria" Meeting and finds it hard to attend the meeting with little knowledge of its preparation details.

China follows closely the humanitarian situation in Syria and stands ready to join in the positive efforts of all relevant parties.

Q: Please brief us on the arrangement of Colombian Foreign Minister Holguín's visit to China.

A: During Foreign Minister Holguín's visit to China, Vice Premier Li Keqiang, Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi will meet and hold talks with her respectively. They will have an extensive and in-depth exchange of views on bilateral relations and issues of common interest.

Since the establishment of diplomatic ties in 1980, China-Colombia relations have been developing smoothly. Recent years have witnessed frequent exchange of high-level visits, deepening political mutual trust, broadening practical cooperation across the board as well as sound coordination and cooperation in international affairs. China would like to work together with the Colombian side to push for the comprehensive and in-depth development of China-Colombia friendly relations of cooperation.

Q: Please brief us on Sudanese Foreign Minister Karti's visit to China.

A: During Foreign Minister Karti's visit to China, Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi will hold talks with him. The two sides will exchange views on bilateral relations as well as international and regional issues of common interest.

China and Sudan boast long-term friendship and fruitful cooperation in various fields, which delivers tangible benefits to the two peoples. To enhance China-Sudan friendly relations of cooperation meets the shared aspiration of the two peoples. We believe that this visit will further boost mutual understanding, deepen bilateral friendship and advance friendly cooperation across the board.

Q: Former UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan was appointed as UN-AL Special Envoy on Syria recently. What is China's comment?

A: China welcomes the appointment of former UN Secretary-General Annan as UN-AL Special Envoy on Syria and hopes that this move will be conducive to promoting political dialogue and resolving the Syrian issue in a peaceful and appropriate manner.

Q: A Chinese citizen has reportedly been killed in the train derailment in the Argentine capital. Please give us more details.

A: According to the latest information, a Chinese citizen died in the train derailment in the capital city of Argentina. We express deep condolences over her death. The Chinese Embassy in Argentina immediately launched the emergency response mechanism after the accident, got into contact with the victim's family members and offered help. The Embassy will keep a close eye on the developments and deal with follow-up matters appropriately.

Q: During the Sudanese Foreign Minister's visit to China, will the two sides talk about China's energy cooperation with Sudan and South Sudan and exchange views on the current conflict between Sudan and South Sudan?

A: Oil is the economic lifeline of both Sudan and South Sudan. Despite the big difference of opinion between the two sides, negotiation is still the best approach to solve the problem. China has always been encouraging the two sides to respect each other's concerns, cooperate with the international community's, especially the African Union's mediation efforts and reach a proper solution as soon as possible. China will continue to work with the international community to make due efforts for the peaceful co-existence between Sudan and South Sudan.
