Zhang Dejiang Meets with the Democratic Leader of House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi of the US Congress

On November 12, 2015, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC) Zhang Dejiang met at the Great Hall of the People with the Democratic Leader of House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi of the US Congress.

Zhang Dejiang expressed that the China-US relationship is very important. Not long ago, at the invitation of President Barack Obama, President Xi Jinping paid a state visit to the US, during which both sides agreed to continue to build the new model of major-country relationship between China and the US, further identified the right direction of the development of China-US relations and reached a series of consensus, sending a positive signal to the world that both countries are devoted to strengthening dialogues and cooperation. The NPC and US Congress should, in the spirit of mutual respect and seeking common ground while reserving differences, strengthen communication and exchanges, enhance mutual understanding, promote practical cooperation, and make more efforts to advance mutual trust and cooperation so as to push for constant new progress in bilateral relations and bring more benefits to both peoples and people of the world.

Nancy Pelosi spoke highly of the meeting of both heads of state and its results, and looked forward to boosting exchanges and cooperation between both legislative bodies and strengthening the friendship between both peoples.

Both sides also exchanged views on some issues.
